RFID technology for portable data has established and proved itself in numerous applications.
However, even RFID has its limits: For example, longer distances between the read station and the transponder can be problematic and necessitate the use of bulky and expensive antennas. The process of integrating RFID applications into more complex automation installations is not without its difficulties or is, at the very least, extremely time-consuming. The volume of data in the transponder is quite limited and relatively inflexible.
All RFID application strategies apply as a matter of principle for magicTECHNOLOGIE. The independent and mobile magicBOX data memory performs the function of the RFID transponder. magicTECHNOLOGIE significantly expands on the possible applications of RFID: For example, the magicBOX can be used to communicate wirelessly over distances of up to 20 m without difficulty. No special read and write stations are required; all you need are standard PCs, notebooks, PDAs and iPods.
A USB wireless stick acts as the interface. Each magicBOX is equipped with a data memory, wireless communication functions and a battery. The organization of data, or the data profile in the mobile magicBOX, can be tailored so that it‘s always in tune with your specific needs.
When your application requirements go beyond RFID, magicTECHNOLOGIE is the ideal alternative:

The magicBOX:
Acting as an alternative to RFID transponders, the magicBOX data medium provides long-term storage for all your important data: recipes, labeling, operating hours, measured values, control parameters, maintenance data, repair reports, limit values, notes and a great deal more besides. The writable and readable magicBOX for up to 32,000 characters is a fully self-sufficient data medium. You determine how the data is organized in the box in a customized data profile. Every magicBOX can be accessed directly using an address or by broadcast - as often as you need.
The read and write stations:
The magicFUNK USB stick allows all PC-based systems (if equipped with a USB interface) to act as read and write stations for the magicBOX. This not only simplifies the communication process, but also guarantees straightforward integration of magicTECHNOLOGIE into any control, PC or IT systems.
